There is no harbour or slipway here, so all boats (there are also a couple of fishing boats and whalewatching tours) are launched from the beach. The boats a loaded unto special dollies and pushed into the water by a tractor. Here the timing is important because our engines have to be pivoted up as we are pushed out, and the second the boat comes off the dolly the engines are lowered and first then can they be started. So if the push out isn't timed right, we can be hit by a large wave without engine power! For this reason Ian and I are ready at the front of the boat to jump in the water and hold the front into the surf, until the engines are up and running. They say its not often all this happens :-) I've only had one launch so far and that went well - luckily the guy (Happy) is experienced and very good at timing the launch.
